Guided Tours

Upon request, the museum offers guided tours introducing visitors to the life of a wealthy merchant’s family in the 17th century. These guided tours are also the ideal opportunity to become acquainted with the Biblical Museum’s unique collection.

The tours take in the delights of the Cromhouthuis, a monumental canal-side house, commissioned by Amsterdam merchant Jacob Cromhout and built in the Dutch Classicist style. The house features one of the oldest kitchens in the city and an impressive reception room. This Grand Salon is now furnished as a painting gallery, including the ceiling painting by Jacob de Wit featuring mythological scenes of Roman gods and the zodiac. Tours then continue by climbing the grand English staircase to the upper floors. These floors are home to the Biblical Museum, where the Bible, art and culture are united.
