The Wunderkammer

The Wunderkammer, an acclaimed stylists’ collective consisting of Florian Seyd and Ueli Signer, is responsible for the contemporary design and furnishing of the rooms at the Cromhouthuis. This was the first time that the collective worked with a museum on a permanent interior design.

By blending historic and applied art with flowers and other decorative elements, they have successfully used a contemporary approach to return the ambience and grandeur of the Golden Age to the house. The Wunderkammer also gave the museum shop and Café Cromhout a 17th-century facelift.

Exclusive hotels, restaurants and events both in the Netherlands and overseas commission The Wunderkammer to attend to their styling and floral decoration. Illustrious projects have included the decorations for the launch of the 5-star W Amsterdam hotel and the Hermès Silk Ball. The Wunderkammer also collaborated with fashion designers Bas Kosters and Edwin Oudshoorn on projects respectively entitled A Floral Affair and The Manor Blooms, both involving spectacular – wearable – floral fashion creations. Ueli Signer also designs his own range of furniture and decorative objects, which are exclusively available in The Wunderkammer’s web store and at their biannual Shop for a Week event. Both master florists, Florian and Ueli are regularly invited to present workshops and lectures. In 2015, they were amongst the world’s 27 leading floral artists (and duos) named in Isabel Gilbert Palmer’s book Formidable Florists.
